We kick off our NATIVES series by focusing on two future kings - Dublin native Dale Turner aka 9T2 Beats & South London's very own, Crave Moore. We caught up with the two at BLOQ HQ a while back and went for a nice little stroll around Dun Laoghaire to discuss past, present and future.
We first met Dale earlier this year through his venture St.Street Sneakers (@st.streetsneakers) and instantly clicked, sharing a huge amount of common interests—music, fashion and, most notably our love for Dublin. This is when we first learned that our Dale is somewhat of a hidden gem. Although he is heading the up and coming sneaker revolution in our city, his true calling is producing real and soulful music, with a sound yet to be rivalled in Dublin. Outrageously talented, yet supremely modest, he has produced tracks for and featuring Rejjie Snow who has been selling out shows across the continent and Loyle Carner, who recently smashed it with his debut Radio 1 Piano Session.
Our favourite works of his to date, are the seamless collaborations with the highly talented and hugely anticipated UK rapper, Crave Moore. The two met through mutual friends, “Crave was searching for that beat to rival his unique sound, I played him some of mine…the rest is history.” It’s their pure infatuation with what they do that shines through in the finished product. Both Dale and Crave explained how they never intended on getting into the scene or pursuing a career, but that it was just a natural progression, “when you really love doing something, you do it because of that reason and nothing else.” The pairs creative process is something to highlight. To date, it’s been a lot of hopping back and forth between Dublin and London, recording bits and pieces as they go. Crave explains that it’s all very unorthodox and off the cuff, “We create off a vibe. We could be chilling, just playing the playstation, listening to music and then out of nowhere, we’d drop everything. I’d come up with a verse or Dale would create a beat.”
Dale is making the long overdue move to London later this month to work on the pair’s EP and other projects he has lined up with various artists. Expect to see and hear a lot more of 9T2 Beats and Crave Moore in 2016.
’Mission To The Moon’ is the latest smooth and soulful delivery from the the duo who are only in there early 20's. Mark my words, our inaugural BLOQ Natives are on the verge of something big.
